A large part of Tanzania’s landscape is national parks and reserves. Almost 40 percent of the entire country is covered with them. These parks are home to many different animal species. That makes Tanzania the perfect destination for spotting 'The Big 5'. During the photography tour through Tanzania, you will visit some of these parks. You can read here what makes the parks so special and what exactly can be seen there!

Serengeti, the National Park of Tanzania

This park is the largest National Park in Africa and therefore one of the most famous parks in the world. Serengeti National Park is mainly popular for its endless landscapes. In addition, huge groups of wild animals live in this park and it’s certainly possible to spot 'The Big 5' here. These include the 5 most difficult animals to hunt: elephants, rhinos, buffalos, lions, and leopards.

It is also possible to see the 'Great Migration'. It happens every year in this park. During this time, 2 million animals migrate through the park in search of grasslands and water. There are mainly huge groups of wildebeests, but other animals such as zebras and gazelles are also part of the 'Great Migration'. This period can also be described as a natural wonder and is certainly a unique experience.

National Park Tarangire

The Tarangire National Park is of course also very popular because of its diversity of wildlife. It’s therefore the park with the most elephants in the world. Especially in dry seasons it is possible to see large groups of elephants here. In addition, the Boabab trees are also very special. These immense trees can hold up to 100,000 liters of water and ensure that the elephants also have enough water during the dry seasons. In addition, the trees can live for more than 3000 years and are also very photogenic.

National Park Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara attracts a lot of visitors. Therefore the park is named after that lake. The lake is a huge saline lake and that’s why it attracts large groups of flamingos. They eat the minerals from the saltwater lake and owe their pink colour to this. There are also many other species of migratory birds to spot here such as pelicans and storks. In addition, the minerals in the lake provide a pink coloured water. This creates a unique view.

Lake Eyasi

Unlike the parks mentioned earlier, Lake Eyasi is not a national park. However, it is a popular destination in Tanzania. Lake Eyasi is also a saltwater lake. The lake is best known for the Hadzabe tribe that settled around the lake. This tribe still lives exactly according to the lifestyle of their ancestors. They are the last Bushmen of their kind and they have lived this way for several thousand years. For example, the men still hunt for their food with a bow and arrow. During the trip you will have the opportunity to meet this special tribe and get to know their lifestyle.

In addition to these special Parks, there is of course so much more to see in Tanzania. During the photography tour there will be plenty of time to capture the beauty of this country.
