For many people, Myanmar is an (still) unknown destination and a country they would not consider visiting. That’s why today’s post will give you 5 reasons why Myanmar should definitely be on your bucket list.

1. The beautiful city Bagan
Bagan in a beautiful city located in the heart of Myanmar. During the photography tour through Myanmar, you will stay a few days in this city. It’s definitely one of the many highlights. Bagan is an ancient city which is very popular for its preserved temples. There are over 2000 breathtaking temples on an area of about 40 square kilometres in this city. Besides the temples, both sunrises and sunsets are very popular in the city. In fact, they are described as the most beautiful in the world. Bagan is also known for the many hot air balloons that fill up the sky. This view creates a beautiful picture.

2. The culture
Buddhism is the majority religion in Myanmar. This religion is a big influence on the culture of the local people. For example, meditation is part of the daily activities. Based on the amount of monks in the population, Myanmar is the most religious Buddhist country. That’s because boys get to learn all about the traditional way of living at a very young age. That’s how the old traditions are maintained. The traditional tribes still live like that on a daily. Some tribes have really special traditions. Take the Longnecks for example. These women always wear a large number of rings around their neck to make it stretch and look longer. That’s something you will not easily see in our western culture.

3. Temples, temples and even more temples
If you’re interested in Buddhist temples, Myanmar is definitely the right place for you. As mentioned before, there is a large number of temples in Myanmar. A lot of those temples has recently been restored and is therefore still in good condition. It is an absolute highlight and we are happy to take you to the most special temples in the country during the photography trip. The temples are often used for Buddhist rituals and meditation. Other Buddhist architecture such as stupas and pagodas will also be seen during the photography trip.

4. Incredibly friendly locals
The local people are often very proud of their country. Therefore they love to chat with tourists and tell them about their lives. It was not allowed for tourists to visit Myanmar for a really long time and that is exactly why they are so welcome now. The locals are very kind and will always try to make you feel at home. It’s definitely a unique experience to meet these friendly people and get to know their way of living.

5. Undiscovered beauty of Southeast Asia
Although tourism has increased significantly the past few years, Myanmar still is an authentic country. Only a few years ago, the country opened its borders to tourists. Due to that, the country has managed to keep mass tourism away. Myanmar is one of the least developed countries in Asia and many people still live exactly like their grandparents did. That’s why we are able to see the real beauty of this country and it will leave you breathless.

And there are many more reasons why Myanmar is definitely worth a visit. In short, Myanmar is absolutely beautiful and certainly an unforgettable destination for your next trip.
