Photo Day Blooming Hyacinths – Hallerbos Belgium | Travelmarks Photography

Experience the magic of spring during this photo day of Blooming Hyacinths in Hallerbos, presented by Travelmarks Photography. When the forest transforms into a purple-blue sea of flowers, Hallerbos in Belgium becomes one of Europe's most beautiful locations to capture nature in full bloom.

During this inspiring photography day, you will learn how to make the most of the blooming hyacinths, soft light and mysterious forest structures in your photographs. We will cover various photography techniques such as landscape photography, macro photography, composition, depth of field, soft focus and the creative use of natural light. With personal guidance, you will receive tips to bring atmosphere, colour and depth to your images and perfectly capture the iconic spring carpet of Cauter forest.

Mark Brands is a passionate world traveler and photographer behind Travelmarks Photography. With an infectious enthusiasm and passion for photography, he guides photo workshops all over the world. With an eye for detail, patience and personal attention, he helps every participant to push his or her photographic boundaries.

Mark has years of experience in photography and knows better than anyone how to capture the power and beauty of the world with your camera. From rugged mountain landscapes to subtle details in the morning light - his work exudes wonder and respect for the environment. With sincere commitment and a keen eye for composition, he helps others to deepen their photographic view and look at photography with a different eye.

Practical information:

  • If you have a tripod, bring it with you.
  • You can also borrow a tripod.
  • We are having lunch together in the field at a lovely spot in the Hallerbos.
  • In total, we will walk a few kilometres, so wear good walking shoes.
  • We start on time, so be there!
  • We will meet at the Hallerbos, at a car park to be determined.

When and where do the bluebells bloom in the Hallerbos?
The wild hyacinths are usually in bloom between mid-April and early May, depending on the weather conditions. During this period, large parts of the Hallerbos in Belgium transform into an impressive blue floral landscape that attracts many photographers annually. During Travelmarks' photography day, you will visit the most beautiful locations at the right moment of flowering.
Working low to the ground, and utilising soft backgrounds and natural light creates a fairytale atmosphere. Misty mornings and backlight can also lead to special images. During the workshop you will learn how to capture the unique character of the Hallerbos.
Common settings include: ISO 100 to 400 aperture between f/4 and f/11 tripod in low light RAW captures accurate autofocus or manual focus. You will learn how to fine-tune these settings to suit the conditions.
The most beautiful photos are often taken along forest paths where blooming bluebells stretch between the trees. Clearings with shafts of sunlight and natural vistas also offer stunning compositions. On this photography day, Travelmarks will guide you to carefully selected locations for the most beautiful images.
